Quick start

Check a registration in seconds

Use a supported serviceBOT, enter the vehicle registration in the correct format and review the returned lookout context carefully.

Telegram serviceBOT

NP Tracker’s published Telegram lookup options include @NPTrackerBOT and @NPS_BOT.

  1. Open the bot in Telegram.
  2. Start the conversation.
  3. Send the vehicle registration number you want to check.
  4. Review the returned report and consider the date, location, source and nature of each lookout.

WhatsApp serviceBOT

The WhatsApp lookup service is a subscription service at R49 per month. Use either of these WhatsApp lookup numbers:

  1. Save either WhatsApp lookup number to your contacts.
  2. Open a WhatsApp conversation with the saved number.
  3. Send the vehicle registration number you want to check.
  4. Review the returned report and consider the date, location, source and nature of each lookout.

serviceBOT commands

The serviceBOT accepts a registration number directly and historically documented these commands:

CommandPurposeExample format
registrationSearch for reports matching a known vehicle plate.ABC123GP
addplateAdd a vehicle lookout report, followed by the registration and incident information.Follow the prompts returned by the bot.
wildplateSearch for a partial registration when supported.Use the bot’s returned format guidance.
pingCheck whether the bot is responding.ping

versionShow the bot version.version

If a bot returns “NOT valid <command> OR <numberplate>”, remove spaces or punctuation and resend the registration in a compact format. Personalised plate formats may not be supported.

Contributing group lookouts

Participating Telegram groups can add @FreemirrorBOT to scan group messages that contain registration numbers. The historical site also describes captureBOT as a lighter capture-only option and mirrorBOT as the broader freeMIRROR group-management option.

Group administrators can ask NP Tracker about keyword exclusions for sensitive messages. The project states that messages without a registration number are not added to the plate lookup database.

AdmitIT mobile scanning

AdmitIT is now the current visitor-management and entrance-control platform. Its Android workflow can capture visitor, identity, driver, vehicle, licence-disc, number-plate, face, fingerprint, visitor-code and destination information according to the organisation’s configured process.
